Information for Doctors
For referring practitioners, the conditions I am most expert in treating, and therefore for which referrals to me are most appropriate, are as follows:
- Achilles, patellar, hamstring and other tendinopathies
- Groin injuries (e.g. adductor tendinopathy, sports hernia)
- Iliotibial band friction syndrome (I have had this on both legs!)
- Other running and sprinting injuries (I am a distance runner)
- Plantar fasciitis
- Hamstring and other muscle strains
- Tennis elbow and rotator cuff tendinopathies
- Ultrasound-guided PRP (platelet rich plasma), polidocanol, cortisone, prolotherapy injections
- Shock wave therapy for calcific tendon disorders
Medicare requires that all patients to sports physicians have a referral from another medical practitioner (usually a GP). A return letter is always provided back to the referring doctor.
